The links listed are great sources to help you get started. The best way is to begin with yourself. Get a copy of a family tree and begin filling in all the information you can. Go backwards as far as you can. Most people only get to their grandparents or great-grandparents before having to stop. Don't be discouraged. You can find out as much as you want, with patience and perseverance.

The first thing you need is a family tree forum. Click here for your FREE GENEALOGY TOOL KIT, the kit is 31 pages so you might want to pick and choose what you need. The first page you need is the PEDIGREE CHART. That's where you begin listing all you know. You can also pick up a partial copy of this kit in the library. There are sets at the checkout desk.

Here are some other links to help you in your search ...

Cyndi's List: this site has absolutely everything you could possibly need. She has links to all the important sites. There is an alphabetical chart on the main page.

BBC History: tons of information whether you are a Brit or not

Free Genealogy Resources : more chart downloads, information on family linking, book repair. Pretty good site.

US GenWeb: Great free resources. Links to all the states and their own genealogical resouces.

World GenWeb Project : This is similar to US GenWeb.

If you want to spend money, and sometimes it pays to do so:  Ancestry.com or Genealogy.com are good sites to join.
